Creating Your Store

Get started with BookWish as a bookstore owner.

Prerequisites​

Before creating your store, you need:

  • A BookWish account with Bookstore tier
  • Basic store information ready (name, address, hours)
  • A logo image (optional but recommended)

Signing Up​

Upgrade to Bookstore Tier​

If you have an existing BookWish account:

  1. Go to Settings > Account
  2. Click "Upgrade to Bookstore"
  3. Complete the subscription setup via Stripe
  4. Your account is upgraded immediately

New Bookstore Registration​

If you're new to BookWish:

  1. Download the BookWish app or visit bookwish.io
  2. Sign up for a new account
  3. Select "I'm a Bookstore Owner" during onboarding
  4. Complete subscription setup

Store Setup Wizard​

After upgrading, you'll see the Store Setup Wizard. This guides you through:

Step 1: Basic Info​

Enter your store's essential information:

  • Store Name - Your bookstore's official name
  • Description - A brief description (shown on your website)

Step 2: Location​

Provide your physical address:

  • Street address
  • City, State, ZIP
  • Country

This enables:

  • Customers to find you on the map
  • Local pickup options
  • "Near me" search results

Step 3: Contact Information​

Add contact details:

  • Phone - Public phone number
  • Email - Contact email for customer inquiries

Step 4: Business Hours​

Set your operating hours:

  • Configure each day of the week
  • Set open/close times
  • Mark days as closed
  • Use "Copy to weekdays" for quick setup

Step 5: Branding (Optional)​

Customize your store's appearance:

  • Upload your logo
  • Upload a banner image
  • Choose your primary accent color

Step 6: Review & Create​

Review all information and create your store.

After Setup​

Once your store is created:

  1. Add Inventory - Import or manually add your book inventory
  2. Configure Shipping - Set up shipping options and rates
  3. Enable Website - Turn on your public store website
  4. Connect Integrations - Link Square POS, payment processing

Editing Store Information​

After creation, edit your store at any time:

  1. Go to Shop tab
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Select Store Settings
  4. Update any information
  5. Save changes
