Lines

Lines are short posts (up to 280 characters) where you share your thoughts, reactions, and favorite quotes about books. Think of them as book-focused tweets that let you engage with other readers.

What Are Lines?

Lines are BookWish's primary social feature for sharing quick thoughts about books. They appear in:

  • Your main Share feed
  • Book club discussions
  • Reading challenge conversations
  • Book detail pages
  • User profiles

Each Line is connected to a specific book and can include:

  • Your original thoughts or reactions
  • Favorite quotes from the book
  • Reading progress updates
  • Recommendations
  • Book club discussion posts

This helps you see the context of where a Line was shared.

Best Practices

Be thoughtful: While Lines are short, make them meaningful to spark good conversations.

Respect spoilers: If discussing plot details, consider adding a spoiler warning in your text.

Engage authentically: Like and reply to Lines that resonate with you to build community.

Use book clubs wisely: Choose the appropriate club when posting to ensure relevant discussions.

Quote properly: When sharing quotes, consider adding your reaction or why it resonated with you.

Privacy

  • All Lines are public and visible to all BookWish users
  • Lines appear in multiple feeds (Share tab, book pages, club discussions)
  • Anyone can see, like, and reply to your Lines
  • Deleted Lines are permanently removed along with all their replies
Private Notes

If you want to keep your thoughts private, use Scribbles (private notes) instead of Lines. See Scribbles for more information.
